This was a largely improvised song (I had a few of the lyrics kicking around in my head prior) I did at the end of my recording session with Joe Foldes and is now my new favorite song on the upcoming Baby Killers album "Police State." Tapes will be available May 1st! I'm also playing/producing a May Day show (May 1st) at Bootleg bar in Bushwick. It's free and features an all-female fronted punk rock line up! I open at 9pm so come by, get a free tape and rock out.
Full digital album will be available here after my "official" tape release and rural America tour launch show on May 23rd at El Cortez!
We recorded on old-school tape reels, bounced it to the computer and bounced it back to tape for me to put the guitar down over the drums and vocals. A lot of fun but still slightly stressful. I also played through a modified cassette player Joe had made into an amp and used a Big Muff II distortion pedal - generously given to me by Mike Schnapp (and on a "new" heavy lefty guitar given to me by Brett Sullivan). The album contains four guitar & vocal songs and three drum, vocal and guitar songs.
Thanks Joe for working with me and giving me the freedom and space to create (and enduring a few of my panic attacks!). Joe also played bass on the drum/vocal recording but it's invisible since we were running late and didn't have time to hook him up to the tape reels. He's the best! (he also made me tea, cooked dinner and bartered this free album recording with me in exchange for my van/driving for his upcoming music video for his band Haunted Horses)
